A Love Letter to Chicago Deep Dish Pizza

Dear Chicago Deep Dish Pizza,

Hello, new friend. Where have you been all my life? You were something I never knew I needed, until I devoured you. You captured my heart with your overload of gooey cheese and sweet sauce that tackled my hunger. Now that I’ve had a taste of you, regular pizza will never compare to your excellence.

To me, all Chicago deep dish pizza is amazing, but I have to specifically dedicate this letter to the home of the best pizza in Chicago, Lou Malnati’s.

When I arrived to Chicago for the first time on a Friday night at 9:00 p.m., you were there for me when I needed you the most. I was so unbelievably hangry, but you fixed that. I’ll admit, you took your good ol’ time in the oven, but like the menu said, it was worth the 30 minute wait. You taught me the valuable lesson that perfection can’t be rushed.

Lou Malnati’s deep dish pizza, you aren’t just beautiful on the outside, you’re also beautiful on the inside. It’s tragic when food looks good on the outside and tastes horrific inside, but there was no deception here. When I took my first bite of you, I knew we connected on a deeper level.

I’m not sure what to do now that I’m not with you anymore. I won’t be back in Chicago for awhile, but I don’t know if I can wait that long for you. There are no deep dish pizza places where I live. The best I have is Pizza Hut and Papa John’s, and we both know they’re pathetic excuses for pizza companies.

If only there was a way for us to be together…but wait, there is a way! I can order you straight to my house whenever I want. For two of you, I can have you delivered to me for $61.99. I can’t exactly afford that price considering I’m a broke student, but to me, you’re worth it.

I’ll see you soon my love.

Sincerely,

Kara
