Burgatory’s Burgers and Shakes

I’m a sucker for a good burger, especially when that burger is paired with crispy french fries, a thick milkshake, and a layer of peanut butter. Wait, did I just say peanut butter? Who in their right mind would think it’s acceptable to slather a layer of peanut butter on a hamburger? I’ll tell you the place that has the guts to put anything on burgers, and that’s Burgatory.

Burgatory is a chain restaurant in Pittsburgh, PA that serves up creative burger combinations and heavenly shakes. I’ve only been there twice and I’m already obsessed. Everything is made to perfection, and the atmosphere has such a cool vibe. Plus, have you checked out the logo? The “B” with flames at the bottom and a halo on top is genius, in my opinion.

Before we get to the beef, I want to go back to Burgatory’s milkshakes. They offer classic shakes and hard shakes for those lucky enough to be 21. Some of their classic shakes include flavors like Salted Nutella Crunch (one of my favorites), Fluffer Nutter Butter, Cookie Monster, and *drum roll* Campfire S’mores.

Burgatory’s Campfire S’mores milkshake is so delicious that Buzzfeed ranked it number five in this article that talks how you haven’t lived until you’ve tried the 26 desserts on their list. Obviously, I had to order the s’mores milkshake for myself to see if Buzzfeed was right.

Boy oh boy, this baby was extraordinary. The mix of chocolate, graham, and marshmallow tasted like sweet heaven. By the way, this shake was only six dollars, AND it came with the rest of the milkshake that didn’t fit into the cup.

I literally had the excitement of a puppy in this picture. You would be excited too if you got a shake with a fancy toasted marshmallow on top.

My shake definitely filled me up, but I was still hungry for meat. I decided to make a “custom creation” burger, so I marked off everything that I wanted on their handy dandy list of options. I ended up picking hormone free beef, a pretzel bun, angel dust rub (because I’m an angel), and some barbecue sauce for my creation.

They even served my burger with a nice little pitchfork that had my name on it, so I knew darn well this meal was meant for me. The only downside is that fries cost $1.50 extra if you want them as a side, but chips are free. It all depends on what type of potato you want that day.

I know I didn’t exactly get anything special on my burger because I’m basic, but I think less is more. The meat was so juicy and flavorful that I didn’t need any fancy extras.

If you want to take a trip down to Flavortown like Guy Fieri, stop by Burgatory when you’re in the ‘burgh and grab a burger and shake. This place definitely won’t judge you if you like interesting things on your burger, like peanut butter.
