Celebrating National Ice Cream Month

National food days are fun to celebrate, but national food months are even better. For instance, why have National Ice Cream Day when you can have National Ice Cream Month? In case you haven’t heard, July is National Ice Cream Month, and I’ve been taking full advantage of this fabulous month to eat ice cream every chance I get.

When I go out for ice cream, I don’t get the standard vanilla or chocolate cone. I typically order the item that sounds most fascinating to me. Normally, it ends up being a huge sundae I can never finish, but I’d rather have too much ice cream than too little.

Speaking of a huge sundae I couldn’t finish, I recently ordered one the the best sundaes of my life at a place called Frosty Cone in Elizabeth, PA. The collage of pictures below shows a few of their magnificent creations.

Frosty cone has soft serve, custard, frozen lemonade, and even raw cookie dough. I stalk their instagram (@frosty_cone) to get my daily dose of ice cream when I can’t visit. Plus, their sundaes, like the brownie and cookie sundae, are made with homemade baked goods. They even offer a s’mores sundae with torched marshmallows, so you know that’s the sundae I have to showcase here.

The s’mores sundae is made with vanilla soft serve, torched marshmallows, melted chocolate, and graham crackers. Basically, it’s a campfire in a cup. A REALLY big cup. It was also under five dollars. Honestly, I would pay more than ten dollars for a sundae like this.

It was crazy when I ordered this sundae because I saw the people behind the counter bring out a blowtorch to toast my marshmallows. I definitely don’t see that everyday. That’s true ice cream dedication. They could’ve just put marshmallow fluff on top, but they took it a step further by torching actual marshmallows.

Every bite had marshmallow, graham, and chocolate. I would eat this sundae for every meal if I could. I don’t care about stomach aches and sickness. I may be lactose intolerant, but I still eat ice cream because I refuse deprive myself of happiness.

If you haven’t eaten any ice cream for National Ice Cream Month, please do so as soon as possible. You still have about three weeks left to make up for lost time. If you’re upset about missing the first 12 days of National Ice Cream Month, just eat ice cream with every meal. Trust me, ice cream is completely healthy, and if anyone tells you otherwise, tell them you’re getting your daily dose of dairy!
