Chick-fil-A Nuggets Recipe

If you live and breathe Chick-fil-A like me, this news is going to blow your mind: I have a recipe for Chick-fil-A’s famous nuggets, and I’m ready to share all the deets. With this recipe, you will have the ability to cure your Chick-fil-A cravings any day of the week, even Sunday.

Ironically enough, I made this recipe for the first time on a Sunday. I don’t know if it’s because Chick-fil-A is closed on Sunday, but I swear the chicken tasted better because it was made on that day. This recipe is also great for late night munchies because Chick-fil-A isn’t open 24/7, which is tragic.

Alright, enough chit chat. It’s time to get down to business. Let’s take a look at the recipe that will change your life for the better.

Chick-fil-A Nuggets Recipe

Ingredients:

  1. 1 pound chicken breasts

  2. 1 cup dill pickle juice

  3. 1 cup buttermilk

  4. 1 large egg

  5. 1  1/2 cups flour

  6. 1 tablespoon powdered sugar

  7. 1/2 teaspoon salt

  8. 1/4 teaspoon pepper

  9. 1/4 teaspoon paprika

  10. 4 cups peanut oil for frying

Directions:

  1. Wash the chicken and take off the fat. Cut chicken into nugget sized pieces.

  2. In a large bowl, add the uncooked chicken, dill pickle juice, and buttermilk together to marinate for an hour or more.

  3. Remove chicken from marinade and move it to a new bowl. Toss the chicken with the well beaten egg.

  4. Combine the flour, powdered sugar, salt, pepper, and paprika in a large zipper plastic bag.

  5. Put the chicken pieces in the plastic bag and shake bag to coat chicken completely with flour mixture.

  6. Add 4 cups of peanut oil to a large frying pan and heat oil to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Add a few chicken pieces to the oil, about 4 or 5 at a time, and fry until the chicken’s internal temperature is 165 degrees Fahrenheit. If you have a low level of oil in the pan, make sure to flip your nugget pieces so they are evenly done.

  7. Remove chicken from oil when cooked and put the pieces on a paper towel covered plate.

  8. Once the chicken is cooled, remove the pieces from the paper towel and serve.

I cut my nuggets into Chick-fil-A’s signature style. If you want something bigger than nuggets, you can always cut your chicken into strips. Or, if you’re feeling really saucy, you could try to make a chicken patty out of the chicken breast to make a classic Chick-fil-A sandwich.

I never thought I would mix pickle juice and buttermilk together for a recipe, yet here I am. Surprisingly, these two are a dynamic duo. Not exactly the best combination smell wise, but the pain is worth it in the end when you taste your delicious nuggets.

I let my chicken marinate in the pickle juice and buttermilk for an hour, but you can always let the chicken stay in this bath longer. A little scrub a dub dub never hurt anyone.

Once the chicken has pruned up from it’s pickle juice and buttermilk bath, put it in a new bowl to be tossed with the beaten egg.

This is a glorious view inside the bag of the chicken covered in the flour mixture. Make sure every piece is coated so the nuggs can be golden brown when they go in the oil.

To start out, my oil temperature was around 350 degrees Fahrenheit, but that temperature will go down when you add the chicken. It’s handy to have a thermometer on hand to check your temp. If you don’t have a thermometer, I would turn the stove on medium until the oil begins to sizzle.

This was my first time frying food, and now I believe frying is my aesthetic. Watching the nuggets pop to perfection was so satisfying. These puppies will fry up quick, so don’t leave them unattended. My first batch only took 3 minutes to fry.

Can life get any better than fried Chick-fil-A nuggets? The only way I think it could get better is with a side of waffle fries..and a glass of their sweet lemonade.

This picture should be illegal because it’s so breathtaking. These nuggets are absolutely glorious. Now, it’s time to dig in and see how they compare to the real thing.

These nuggets are pretty darn close to Chick-fil-A in my opinion. The real question I have to ask myself is: will I still go to Chick-fil-A now that I have the recipe for their nuggets? Absolutely. I don’t have enough patience to wait for my nuggets to fry all the time.

These chicken bites are juicy, crispy, and tender. If you’ve never cooked anything in your entire life, this is the time to change your ways and make these Chick-fil-A nuggets.

It was my pleasure to share this recipe with you!
