As the whole UGA campus is getting prepared to cheer on the Dawgs versus Alabama this Saturday, I want to take a look back at when Georgia played Auburn a few weeks ago. I want to go back to a happier time in the football season when I felt good about who we were playing since Auburn was trash this season.
Let’s take a look at what happened when my beautiful family made the haul to Athens, Georgia to see their favorite daughter. And no, I’m obviously not talking about you, Amanda. After all, look how happy our parents look in the picture below sitting next to ME.
This hype weekend all started on November 9 when my mom, dad and sister flew to Atlanta and rented a car to drive all the way to Athens to see me. After waking up in the wee hours of the morning, none of them were too pleased to be dealing with me, but they decided to pick me up anyways and take me to their glamorous three-star hotel room.
Here’s a photo of me struggling to carry all of my belongings to the car. Instead of anyone getting out and helping me, my sister decided to take this picture instead where I almost dropped everything because I’m a weakling.
As soon as we got in our hotel room, my dad did what he always does when we go on vacation – he immediately turned on the television and took off his shirt. It was a beautiful sight.
Speaking of beautiful sights, how patriotic does my dad look in this photo of him overlooking Sanford Stadium with the flag waving proudly in the background?
After talking about how absolutely wonderful school was going for me, my mom asked if I could step outside of the room and fill up her water bottle.
Me being the typical lazy college student that I am said no. After all, why couldn’t she just walk to the sink and use the hotel tap water? However, after getting a ~look~ for saying no, I quickly changed my answer and decided it would be best to fill her bottle as fast as I could. I made a mad dash for the lobby and filled that sucker up with only the classiest infused fruit water.
When I returned to the room, this is what I walked in on…
I died. Like I literally died laughing on the spot.
While I was gone for 30 seconds, they orchestrated the fastest costume change of all time.
My mom decided to make these adorable shirts for us to wear to let everyone know that despite people always wondering if I’m adopted, that I am indeed a part of this family!
As for the football game, everyone had a ball. My parents were in the highest section of the stadium in the last few rows, but my mom still cheered. I assume that my dad did nothing because he hates Georgia. I actually wouldn’t be shocked if he cheered for Auburn.
***FUN FACT: I originally wanted to attend Auburn in high school, but my mom found out that it was 14+ hours away from our house and slashed my hopes and dreams. I’m glad she had sense back then and allowed me to attend a school 10 hours away, instead.
I managed to sneak my sister into the student section by grabbing another wristband at the gate. I’m shocked that someone didn’t stop her from entering considering she graduated from college last semester. She’s practically ancient at this point.
Georgia then proceeded to crush Auburn, as everyone expected they would. Let’s hope that happens again this Saturday by some miracle with Alabama *nervous laughter.*
It was fun having my family pay an outrageous amount of money to see me for a weekend and even go to a football game. If they thought this experience was crazy, then they need to prepare for when Notre Dame comes here, and I make them come see that battle.
