Grilled Thai Spice Chicken Burgers

Why did the chicken cross the road? To eat some grilled thai spice chicken burgers, of course! That’s considered cannibalism for the chicken, but they would understand if they tasted themselves.

Chicken is my favorite meat to work with because it is so versatile. Chicken can be grilled, sautéed, fried, pulled, infused, and so much more. It’s far from a boring meat if you decide to get creative.

I’ll be honest, I’m not a huge fan of red meat. Hamburgers aren’t that thrilling to me and they all taste the same. I’ve probably had less than 20 hamburgers in my 18 years of existence simply because I think they have no flavor. Maybe I’m eating the wrong hamburgers, but chicken is the meat that gets me excited.

I was happy when my uncle gave me this recipe for chicken burgers so I could actually enjoy a burger for once. These chicken burgers are full of flavor and color. If you want to spice up your boring hamburger routine, make these at your next gathering!

Ingredients:

1 pound ground chicken
1/4 cup chopped green onion
1 tablespoon chopped fresh cilantro
1 tablespoon thai roasted red chili paste
2 teaspoons fish sauce
1 lime, juiced
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon pepper

Sriracha Mayo Sauce: (Optional)

1/2 cup mayonnaise
1 tablespoon Sriracha

Directions:

1. Season a grill or grill pan with vegetable oil, turn to medium high
heat
2. Season the meat with garlic powder and pepper in a large bowl. Mix in the chili paste, fish sauce, lime juice, cilantro, and green onion. Form meat into patties
3. Grill burgers for a few minutes on each side until meat is cooked to
165 degrees Fahrenheit
4. Whisk mayonnaise and Sriracha sauce together in small bowl
5. Put burger patties on buns or eat them plain

Look at all these vegetables, this is a great recipe to sneak in some vegetables for picky eaters. When everything is added to the bowl and you are ready to mix, make sure not to over mix. Over mixing can cause your meat to get tough and then you won’t get the perfect texture of the burger.

When you grill your chicken burgers, they will not get black like a grilled hamburger. Your burgers should be slightly brown, but as long as the meat is 165 degrees Fahrenheit they are safe to eat.

I used whole wheat buns for my chicken burgers, but I think sweet Hawaiian rolls would work better to tame the spiciness.

Open up your boring hamburger lifestyle to chicken burgers and taste the flavor!
