Monster Cookie Sandwich Recipe

Cookies and milk are a classic combination, but what about cookies and monsters? When most of us think of cookies and monsters, we think of THE Cookie Monster from Sesame Street. (Remember when they tried to make him the Veggie Monster? That was a stellar idea…).

If you are a fan of cookies and monsters, I have a great recipe to help you make your own delicious creatures at home!  For this purpose, I believe the Toll House cookie recipe works best. This recipe makes enough dough to make eight large cookies to sandwich together.

Toll House Cookie Dough Recipe:

2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
1 cup butter softened
3/4 cup granulated sugar
3/4 cup packed brown sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 large eggs
2 cups chocolate chips

Directions:

1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit. 
2. Combine flour,baking soda, and salt in small bowl. Beat butter,
granulated sugar, brown sugar, and vanilla extract in a large bowl until creamy. Add eggs, one at a time, and beat well after each one. Gradually beat in flour mixture. 
3. Stir in chocolate chips. Drop rounded dough onto ungreased baking 
sheet. (Make sure your dough balls have space because they will expand!)
4. Bake for 8 to 11 minutes or until golden brown.  
5. Cool cookies on wire racks.

Now that the cookies are made, the real fun begins. It is time to assemble some monsters!

To decorate, I recommend using a stiff buttercream because it keeps its shape. If you don’t want to make your own buttercream, you can always buy pre-packaged icing.

For my monsters, I used Wilton grass tip 233 for the top and Wilton tip 10 to pipe the eyes. However, you can use a variety of decorating tips. It all depends on the look you are want.

To add more fun into the mix, I made a vibrant purple for the hair and a light pink for the tongue. To make the tongue, all you have to do is plop some frosting in between two cookies and squish them together.


Look at all the delicious frosting! Chocolate chip cookies and buttercream pair up so well together.

These monsters were getting out of hand, so I had to contain them. 🙂

I encourage you to make your own little monsters in the kitchen. I promise you will have as much fun making them as you will devouring them!
