Quick and Easy Chocolate Gob Recipe

Do you ever find yourself craving dessert whilst in the middle of a 10 hour Netflix binge-watching session? I know when I watch television, my sweet tooth craves a chocolate masterpiece. However, I don’t want to wait hours for brownies or cookies to be baked. I’m not a patient woman, so I want my dessert as soon as possible.

I love baking, I truly do, but occasionally, I don’t feel like putting in all the work to buy ingredients, prepare batter, bake dough, or decorate. Sometimes, I want my kitchen to do the work for me. This, my friends, is called pure laziness. I’m not afraid to admit that I get lazy, from time to time. This is why I’m giving you a simple gob recipe where the gobs can be prepared, baked and decorated in less than 30 minutes.

With this recipe, you will be in and out of the kitchen in no time, so you can get back to streaming as you please.

Chocolate Buttercream:

1. Prepare cake mix according to box directions by adding the egg, water and vegetable oil amounts listed
2. Once batter is mixed, pour a small amount into a piping bag.Cut a small hole in piping bag to squeeze out batter
3. Place parchment paper on a baking sheet and pipe batter to make small circles. Bake batter for about 4-5 minutes at 350 degrees Fahrenheit
4. For buttercream, cream butter with powdered sugar, adding sugar one cup at a time
5. Gradually add cocoa powder to creamed mixture until dissolved
6. Put buttercream in piping bag with round tip and decorate

A small piping bag like the one shown above is a great tool to control the amount of batter that comes out. If you don’t have piping bags, you can make your own by cutting a small hole in the corner of a regular plastic bag.

Gobs can be any size, but I made mine small. Make sure there is enough room in-between each circle, so they don’t clump together.

I’m not perfect, so a few of my circles touched each other, but it was easy to take them apart. You don’t have to use parchment paper if you have a nonstick pan, but I think parchment paper makes things easier.

If you want a classic gob look, I recommend using a large round tip to pipe the filling in the middle. However, if you are feeling fancy, you can always use a fun tip, like a star tip.

Look at these cute little sandwiches! I ate at least 10 of these gobs when I made them, so I will warn you in advance, these treasures are addicting.

I hope you GOBble up these gobs next time you are in the mood for a dessert that can be made in minutes!
