It’s currently June 10. Today might seem like an ordinary day to you, but for me, June 10 signifies the last day of a legacy. Friends, it’s the end of IHOP as we know it. According to IHOP’s twitter, they’re making a big change on June 11, which is tomorrow. They’re changing their name to “IHOB.” To make this matter even more excruciating, we don’t even know what the stinkin’ “B” in IHOB stands for!
Personally, I love IHOP. There’s no expectation to look good or even make healthy choices when you go to IHOP. As for standards? Pshhh, get rid of them now because IHOP does what it wants, how it wants, whenever it wants. I swear I wait over an hour to get my little stack of pancakes every time I visit, yet I still go back.
Real talk, I’ve only been to IHOP 4 or 5 times in my entire life, and I’ve had a pretty mediocre experience all of those times. However, if someone for whatever reason asks me if I want to hit up IHOP and get down and dirty with some Cinnastack pancakes, I will answer with a resounding “Yeah buddy!”
The closest IHOP is 40 minutes away from me, so maybe I shouldn’t be so invested in this matter, but I am! Trust me, I get IHOP’s sales probably aren’t doing so hot, so this is a whole marketing ploy to raise some awareness that IHOP is, in fact, still an establishment where real people go to eat edible food, but come on.
I, for one, will never refer to IHOP as “IHOB.”
All I know is that I have a $10 gift card to IHOP waiting to be used on slightly warm pancakes and syrup, so this name change better not affect my stacks.
I just went on IHOP’s website, and it says that the revelation of what the ‘B’ stands for will be revealed in four hours. Awesome. There goes my plan for getting a good night’s rest. I won’t be able to sleep knowing that IHOP’s changing forever!
As long as IHOP keeps their interesting selection of pancakes during the holidays, like Egg Nog pancakes during the winter that are 800+ calories a serving, I’ll try my best to adjust to their unnecessary changes.
UPDATE: I’m disappointed. International House of Burgers?? Give me a break. I want pancakes!
