I would like to interrupt your internet scrolling for a public service announcement: I was featured on the Food Network’s Snapchat story. How did this come to be? Oh boy, do I have a story for you. Sit back, relax, and get ready for story time kids, because mama’s about to blow your mind.

It all happened last Sunday when I was writing an anthropology research paper. I already know what you’re thinking. Kara, why the heck did you need to write a research paper on anthropology? I WISH I KNEW. Anyway, back to the action. I was trying to figure out how to make it sound like I knew anything about anthropology, when my sister called me.
Obviously, my sister and I communicate, but she rarely calls me. I was actually scared that she was going to yell at me for something I did even though I haven’t seen her in months. When I answered, she shocked the h-e-double hockey sticks out of me. She asked, “Did you see the Food Network’s Snapchat story today?” Of course, me being the bad Gen Z or whatever the heck I am said, “Lol, no.” That’s when she revealed that she saw something that looked familiar on there.

For those of you who don’t know, I write for an online food publication called Spoon University. It’s a great website, and I’m not just saying that because I write literally every article on there. Spoon University is owned by the Food Network and every once in a while, the Food Network’s Snapchat will share a Spoon article if they think it’s really ~nice~, and on Sunday, my lovely cinnamon roll article was featured.
When I actually saw my article with my own eyes on the Food Network’s story, I was SHOOK. Do you know how hard it is to be recognized as a decent writer, let alone be published on one of the most popular social media platforms by a company literally everyone knows? I felt like I made it.

My article was about the best cinnamon rolls to get at the grocery store, and you can read it here. It’s riveting stuff.
I’m still blown away that an article I wrote at 2 a.m. on a Wednesday night has been seen by hundreds of thousands of people. If only that many people read my blog… Oh well, I’ll take what I can get! 🙂
